FORT WORTH, Texas - The second stop on the Elite 11 tour took place on the campus of Texas Christian University this past Saturday afternoon. Approximately 75 quarterbacks where on hand to learn and show off their talents. Below is the breakdown of Barry Every's top performers on the day along with a few of the day's surprises.
Fort Worth Elite 11 Prospect Analysis

DQB Johnny Deaton, 6-3/195, Sand Springs (Okla.) Charles Page
ASSETS: Has good size, nice accuracy and an incredibly quick release.
AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT: Would like to see Deaton work on throwing the ball with more consistent spin making the ball easier to catch.
WHAT WAS MOST IMPRESSIVE AT CAMP: His release was so quick it reminded me of someone flicking a penny (or bottle cap) with his thumb and middle finger.
CONCLUSION: Oklahoma State may have a real steal with this mobile quarterback that makes quick decisions and has the arm strength to go deep.

DQB, James Franklin, 6-2/218, Corinth (Texas) Lake Dallas
ASSETS: Has good size, a very strong arm and quick feet.
AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT: Needs to work on the finesse passes such as the fade as he did not put enough air under the passes for the receivers to make plays on the ball.
WHAT WAS MOST IMPRESSIVE AT CAMP: Came out of the gates throwing with good velocity and spin on his passes.
CONCLUSION: He may be listed as a dual-threat, but in my opinion he is a pro-style with good feet that can buy extra time when the pocket collapses. He could push for playing time as a redshirt freshman.

PQB Tyler Gabbert, 6-0/190, Ballwin (Mo.) Parkway West
ASSETS: Has a big arm, good feet and had excellent spin on his passes.
AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT: Lacks ideal height for a D-I quarterback so he needs to continue to get stronger and work on his overall mobility.
WHAT WAS MOST IMPRESSIVE AT CAMP: It didn't take long to see that he had one of the strongest arms in the camp and he kept the velocity for two hours.
CONCLUSION: He is talented enough that college coaches will be able to look past his height. He is a serious competitor that makes good decisions and will have an impact at the BCS level.

DQB Javia Hall, 6-2/175, Dallas Skyline
ASSETS: Has good spin on his passes along with incredible accuracy.
AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT: Needs to get bigger and stronger which will help with durability at the next level.
WHAT WAS MOST IMPRESSIVE AT CAMP: Was the most accurate passer throughout the day and may have been the biggest surprise in the camp.
CONCLUSION: Currently has no D-I offers, but his showing at this event proved he has what it takes to make it at the highest level. Look for his stock to really take off once coaches come through his school this spring.

PQB Matt Joeckel, 6-4/220, Arlington (Texas) High
ASSETS: Has tremendous size and a beautiful release.
AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT: Like most young quarterbacks at his size, he needs to work on his foot speed and quickness.
WHAT WAS MOST IMPRESSIVE AT CAMP: Had the best wrist flick on his follow-through of anybody in the camp allowing him to throw the ball with excellent spin.
CONCLUSION: Any fan that thinks he was just a throw-in in order for Texas A&M to get his brother Luke is dead wrong. There is going to be a good battle between Joeckel and Jameill Showers in a few years for playing time.

PQB Jacob Morgan, 6-3/218, Austin (Texas) S.F. Austin
ASSETS: Has excellent size, good arm strength and a nice delivery.
AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT: Seems very mechanical in his movement, would like to see him work his footwork and overall athleticism.
WHAT WAS MOST IMPRESSIVE AT CAMP: Had very good velocity and accuracy on his mid-range passes once the receivers began running live routes.
CONCLUSION: Right now he is like the clay that needs to be molded but all the tools are there. If he continues to work on his foot speed and quickness his stock will take off like a rocket.

DQB Jameill Showers, 6-1/200, Killeen (Texas) Shoemaker
ASSETS: Has a very good overall build, strong arm and beautiful spin on his passes.
AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT: Would like to see him shorten his delivery a tad and hold the ball higher while in the pocket.
WHAT WAS MOST IMPRESSIVE AT CAMP: His arm did not fade at all over the two hours of throwing and he proved he was a thrower first and an athlete second.
CONCLUSION: I don't think there is any doubt that Showers is a pro-style QB that has the ability to buy more time in the pocket with his feet. Like I alluded to earlier there will be a real battle in College Station in a few years for the starting quarterback position.
